Needle Felting Workshops

Learn needle felting techniques with roving wool and the basic needs to create a hand made fiber sculpture.  A beginner friendly workshop, inviting all levels of interest to cover the basic skills to get busy and creative by sculpting with wool.  This step by step workshop is designed for each student to complete and take home a project within the session.  A relaxing, enjoyable and creative art form for having fun in the studio

American Impressionism Painting Workshop

Mountain Landscape Impressionism.jpgSaturday and Sunday - January 29 & 30, 2022, 10am - 2:00pm

Connecticut is steeped in the tradition of American Impressionism. Participants learn to paint in this style to create your own masterpiece in oil or acrylic paint. Students will learn techniques used by the Impressionists, how they captured light on canvas, and how they conveyed color and light in a painting. The class will focus on demonstrations with instruction and touch lightly on art history.  Participants are required to use their own supplies, materials and tools and are welcome to take a thirty minute working lunch break.

Zbigniew Grzyb:  Grzyb graduated from the Academy of Fine Art in Krakow, Poland. He was the 2001 winner of Pollock-Krasner award, and 2001 winner of an individual artist grant from the GHAC. Grzyb has been widely exhibited including one person exhibits at New Britain Museum of American Art. zgrzyb.com

Community Drum Circle with Eric Korp

drums.jpgJam with the fam! Gather the entire family young and old for the last Friday of January, February, and March in the Hopko Performace Hall/Gallery. All ages and abilities are welcome for an open drum circle with demonstrations and instructional elements such as how to hold the drum, introduction to different tones and sounds, and an introduction to new and unique instruments. Participants can expect to be part of strong pulsating rhythms, soft melodic harmonies, and fast and furious intense soul burners. A true drum circle experience for players of all ages and abilities.

Participants explore the sculptural sophistication of Koi Fish. This class gives students an overview of sculpting, texturizing, and creating lifelike gestures of body and face and includes techniques for intricate surface details. Deb presented this class online and won BEST online class of the year at 2021 Southern Connecticut New England Polymer Clay Guild Remote Clay ConneCTion. succulent garden.pngApril 2, 10am - 12noon  Miniature Succulent Garden Sculpting Workshop: A hit with youth and adults this is the most popular workshop by far! Participants of all ages create a realistic mini succulent garden out of colorful polymer clay.  It appeals to those that adore plants, but have no interest in the maintenance for survival.  The sculpture also makes a great keepsake gift for teachers, friends and family.  Session suitable for all levels of experience - give it a try!
