A Hopko Performance Gallery Exhibit – September 24 – October 25, 2025
Artist’s Opening Reception – September 27, 1 – 3:00 pm
Clinton Deckert is an American painter raised in Southington, Connecticut, where he still resides and maintains his home studio. His oil paintings have his unique style, somewhat surreal, while merging into the realm of abstraction. This exhibition is an exploration of his artwork that is influenced by memories of his youth playing in tree houses, running through the woods, and splashing around in the ponds and streams of the Northeast. Deckert states, ”I have always been curious to explore what lurks just beneath the water’s surface, or what’s living under the log. My process of painting is inspired by that ongoing curiosity without knowing what the end result will be. The work becomes complete when it is balanced and seems to have a curious yet ambiguous storyline. The resulting paintings are documents from each of those creative journeys. In the end, people will see what they want to see based on their own life experiences and perspectives. Enjoy the arts!”
