Marion B. Larson, 1924 – 1987
Recognized with artistic talent while in high school, her first job was in a photography studio, touching up and adding color tinting to studio portraits. A growing family kept her busy, later her interests turned back to painting around 1976 when Bill Alexander had his PBS series “The Magic of Oil Painting”. Along with Ken and Liz, Marion exhibited her work at the many outdoor art shows in central Connecticut. She was always encouraging, supportive, and interested in Ken’s artwork and historic preservation projects.
Kenneth A. Larson (1947 – 1994)
As an artist and preservationist activist, Ken is well remembered for his many artworks depicting central Connecticut historical sites. Ken produced large folio steel quill drawings in pen and ink with a 19th century focus. He was also known for his linographics, large scale linoleum block cut prints. Ken’s work in this exhibition shows diversity in subject and media, with examples of the pen&ink drawings, figure studies, and landscapes in oils, and pastels.
Liz Winchester-Larson (1947 –
An artist and print-maker with more than fifty years of experience, Liz continues to work on new still-life compositions with rich color and intricate detail using colored pencil as her preferred medium. Her tiny studio is filled with the objects and plants that inspire her paintings. Liz exhibits her award winning paintings throughout the New England area and enjoys sharing her art techniques in impromptu discussions and scheduled demonstrations. She has been exploring the Art in the Family theme in exhibitions with her late husband Ken, daughter Sarah, and other family members.
Sarah M. Larson: (1983 –
Growing up in New Britain, CT, Sarah always wanted to be an artist like her Mom and Dad, when she was a girl, her father taught her how to do architectural drawing, working with pastels, and oil paints. Later, her mother taught her how to set up a well constructed still-life and to draw with colored pencils. Inspired by her parents, Sarah has a passion for creating brightly colored oil paintings of the New England area that have captured her imagination since childhood. Her true love is doing her artworks, it runs in the family!
