About ArtVanGo!
SoCCA’s new traveling art van enables us to connect artists and programming to individuals or groups with a desire to create. We believe art creates a direct connection between mind and body. Engaging in creative activities can help reduce anxiety and stress, give rise to joy, and yield a sense of accomplishment, all while increasing self-esteem and self-confidence. Creative expression is a powerful tool for the brain, improving critical thinking and empathy, creating wellness, and enhancing quality of life. ArtVanGo assists us by providing these powerful connections and positive experiences to Southington and surrounding communities.

!Create with hands-on activities including instruction in Calendar House classrooms 

March 12, 1-3:00pm – Paper Origami Sculpture – Explore the facinating technique of Origami with sculpting with paper.  The ancient Asian art has meny facets to eexplore, where participants can expect to sculpt birds, animals and flowers from one or more sheets of decorate paper.  $10/each
 
May 12, 1-3:00pm –  Floral Printmaking – Participants work with waterbased inks and foam plates to create white line prints on paper.  Be inspired by Spring blossoms for your composition in your Prints. $20/each

Professional instructors will provide art-making activities and exploration for people of all ages and abilities, sparking curiosity and creating deeper connections to the community. We visit indoor and outdoor events with all supplies included. Activities suitable for ages 5 to 105.

Opportunities are offered for:
Schools, libraries, community events, and those in conjunction with civic and non-profit organizations.

  • One art activity per visit.
  • A minimum 2.5 hours per visit is required for booking (including setup and cleanup).
  • 6-15 participants are encouraged in group settings. **added charges for additional time or additional participants.
  • Adult chaperone(s) and/or teacher(s) must remain in the space during the visits to indoor classroom settings.
  • One adult per 10 children.
